NLA facilitates a variety of workshops for events, organisations, community groups and exchange programmes with the intent of building networks, increasing community cohesion, awareness and empathy, as well as bringing people together for joy in community.
Workshops include but are not limited to:
Dance: Dance Theatre (utilising Hip Hop and dances of the African diaspora) , Dancehall (old/mid school), Afro (traditional foundations and Azonto if modern), Soca (foundations and body conditioning). Where there is desire for a performed outcome/ showcase we will incorporate theatre.
Creative writing – writing workshops to delve into putting yourself on the page and bringing your identity to life through character development, tone, and narrative. Specialisms are the creation of poetry and narrative fiction.
Art – I am a trained fine artist and host workshops including painting, drawing, sculpture and performance art. Mindfulness activities and well-being workshops often include elements of this and workshops are tailored to the needs of participants and delivered in a trauma-informed manner.
Equity, diversity and inclusion – These workshops are tailored to meet the needs of the organisation and are based upon a consultation meeting prior. Workshops include anti racism, belonging, social activism, training for difficult conversations and sessions for community care. These are in collaboration with It Takes a Village Collective https://itavcollective.com/
