Academy Breakin’ Convention (ABC) is the UK’s first full-time Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performance and Production Arts specific to Hip Hop Theatre for 16 – 19 year olds (25 with Education Health Care Plan). The course fills a gap in professional pathways for emerging artists and entrepreneurs who want to develop transferable skills to innovate with integrity, explore their ideas with equity and care at the core, and create art and events for diverse communities. Hip hop culture’s peace, love, unity and having fun shapes the ethos of the course, and the artistic practices: Breaking, Social Grooves, Emceeing, DJing, Graffiti, Popping, and Music Production provide foundation, rationale and tools to explore and express. Care is the currency and learners embrace an “each one teach one” mindset in regular wellbeing and self-development sessions to prepare them to sustain a healthy career producing theatre and events that have personal, artistic and industry progression, deliberately embedded. https://academybreakinconvention.com/

2015: ‘On Her Way’ was a collaborative dance and film project between @n_l_arts Niquelle LaTouche ARTS and @igr_love @chantal_olivia_miller_ ChantiMedia which gives insight into Niquelle LaTouche as an artist, woman and academic and explores the theme of ‘Journeys’ both in the personal and wider diasporian sense . Who are we? Where have we journeyed from , where are we headed? What are we learning as we ‘travel’? Where is home?
Inspired by the music of Machel Montano @machelmontano Niquelle has chosen to express her musings through dance, with a piece fusing choreographed and freestyled movement. Along with @neilscottsills Neil Scott-Sills on camera and @pialovenow Pia Tuulia Cabblel as dance consultant, Chantal Olivia Miller has helped to facilitate the realisation of one of her many goals. In the telling of our stories , the voice of our youth is perhaps the most important yet more often than not the voice which is misunderstood or underestimated.
This is one of the company’s first cross arts projects and one of many partnership projects with the IGR family!
